Manihot

The visual identity project for POUSADA MANIHOT, located in Barreirinhas, Brazil, sought to capture the essence of a paradise destination and the cultural and natural richness of the region. Barreirinhas, gateway to the spectacular Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, is a place where the lush nature of the dunes and lagoons meets the authenticity of riverside life.

The name MANIHOT refers to cassava (Manihot esculenta), a native Brazilian plant. My challenge was to translate this connection into a logo that not only represented the inn but also evoked the welcoming experience it offers.

IN CONNECTION WITH THE RAW NATURE

The POUSADA MANIHOT logo was developed to be an organic visual representation. Typography is the central element of the brand; I looked for one that translated natural forms such as branches, trunks and roots. This choice was not by chance: my intention was to create, from the first glance, a direct connection with nature, evoking a rustic environment that is fully integrated with the local landscape.

COLOR PALETTE

In the color palette, I chose olive green to represent the abundant vegetation around. The earthy tones (from brown to orange) refer to clay, the warmth of the sun and bamboo trunks, materials very present in furniture and local structures.

To balance the composition, I included a soft shade of beige, inspired by the comfort of bedding, soft towels and the care of the well-being of guests. This color works as a neutral base, allowing a contrast that reinforces the brand’s sensory proposal.

TYPOGRAPHY

One of the elements I value most in the POUSADA MANIHOT logo is the extension of the letter i, which unfolds in a tangle of roots. I made a point of including this detail because it is fundamental to the concept of the brand: the roots of cassava represent solidity and a deep connection with the place.

I chose for a rustic and organic typographic aesthetic, purposely free of straight lines or rigid geometric shapes. This visual choice was designed to convey a simplicity and harmony with the environment.

From the beginning, I saw that the POUSADA MANIHOT was not proposed to be just a place to stay, but a real portal for those who want to discover the natural riches of Maranhão. Therefore, I worked the visual identity as an invitation to immersion, a journey that combines adventure, contemplation and rest in one of the most stunning scenery in Brazil.

More than creating a logo, my intention was to translate a way of living and receiving: with firm roots, light soul and a close eye for what really matters.
